Ceramic Braces In Miami, Weston And Brickell, FL

Discreet, Tooth-Colored Braces

Looking for a subtle tooth straightening option? Luckily, many of today’s orthodontic appliances are made to blend in! Ceramic braces, also known as clear braces, are made of translucent brackets designed to match your natural tooth color. Smarter Orthodontics by Dr. Maria Yazji recommends ceramic braces for patients who prefer a softer, more discreet look without sacrificing effectiveness.

How Do Ceramic Braces Work?

Good news! Ceramic braces are made up of the same parts and work the same way as traditional metal braces. The difference is the material used for the brackets. These braces are made with translucent ceramic material that matches the natural color of your teeth. Patients often also choose to use clear or pearl colored elastics that hold the archwire in place to maintain a discreet look. Just as traditional braces place gentle, but consistent pressure on the teeth to move them into their proper position, ceramic braces act the exact same way.

Benefits Of Ceramic Braces

Every orthodontic option offered at Smarter Orthodontics is unique and has its own benefits, and finding the best fit for your lifestyle and goals is what we do best! At your consultation, Dr. Yazji will discuss ceramic braces with you in length and help you determine if they are a good fit for you. Ceramic braces are popular with both teens and adults due to their aesthetic appeal. Benefits include:

  • Less visible than traditional braces and blend in with natural tooth color

  • Function the same as traditional braces for optimal results

  • Low profile and smooth for increased patient comfort

Are Ceramic Braces Right For Me?

Clear braces are typically more expensive than traditional braces. They are also not quite as strong as traditional ones, and your time in treatment may be slightly longer. Because they are less durable, the brackets have more of a tendency to pop off. Take care to avoid certain foods to prevent any potential loose brackets. Unless it is causing severe pain, a loose bracket is not an emergency. However, loose and broken brackets do slow down the treatment process. Braces are designed to create a consistent force on the teeth to move them into their proper position. When a bracket falls off, that force is temporarily interrupted until it can be reattached. If any part of your braces break, come visit our office as soon as possible so that we can get you back on track!

Foods and Beverages That May Stain Ceramic Braces

With clear or tooth colored brackets and white or pearl colored elastic ties, there are certain foods and beverages that are more likely to discolor or stain your braces. Because of this, they are generally not recommended for patients who smoke. To avoid discoloration, you may want to avoid or minimize the following foods and beverages during during treatment:

  • Dark or orange sodas
