Botox®, short for botulinum toxin, works by temporarily paralyzing or weakening muscles, which can be beneficial in several applications. When injected into specific muscles, it blocks nerve signals in the area, leading to temporary muscle paralysis. This can smooth out wrinkles and lines, particularly those associated with facial expressions like frowning or squinting.

While Botox® is a medically safe procedure, it is generally not recommended for women who are pregnant or breastfeeding or patients with certain medical conditions. Botox® is a non-surgical solution to better skin—treatments are minimally invasive and typically involve only the use of a topical numbing cream or ice to reduce discomfort at the injection. The treatment is short and relatively painless, and the results are temporary, lasting for several months without any detrimental, long-term effects. Because it requires no downtime, patients can resume their normal activities immediately following the procedure.

Immediately after your treatment, you may notice some tiny bumps around the injection site. Most people begin to notice results within a week, with peak results by week two. Results vary, but typically last around three months. If you want to maintain your beautiful results, you should book your appointment around the three or four month mark. Everyone reacts differently, and our team can recommend how frequently you should receive the injectable.

The procedure is generally considered safe, especially when performed by a certified professional such as Dr. Yazji. Potential risks and side effects include bruising, swelling, or redness around the injection site. Although rare, there is a risk of infection at the injection site and allergic reactions. If you think you are experiencing an allergic reaction, seek medical care as soon as possible.
