Patient Information: What To Expect At Your First Appointment

At your first visit, we will give you a tour of our beautiful office and introduce you to our friendly team. Feel free to bring a family member or friend with you if it helps you feel more comfortable. Remember to bring any necessary identification and insurance cards. We recommend arriving early for your appointment. If you have any specific concerns or questions about your first visit, don’t hesitate to contact us ahead of time!

Your Consultation

Your initial consultation is an opportunity for Dr. Yazji and our team to get to know you and discuss your orthodontic goals. Here is what you may expect during your consultation with us:

Examination

Dr. Yazji will do a full examination of your teeth, gums, jaw and bite. This is extremely important because every person’s situation is unique.

Discussion

You’ll have the opportunity to discuss any specific concerns or issues you have with your teeth or smile. This is a good time to mention if you experience pain or discomfort.

Dental History

Your dental history gives us insight into any previous work or treatments like fillings, extractions, or other procedures that could impact your orthodontic treatment plan. Pre-existing oral health conditions, such as gum disease or cavities, can affect the success of orthodontic treatment. Reviewing this prior to treatment helps Dr.Yazji assess your overall oral health and address any existing issues before beginning orthodontic work.

Take X-Rays As Needed

X-rays are a valuable tool for planning your orthodontic treatment. The digital images help Dr. Yazji assess the exact positioning of your teeth within the jaw. They can also reveal the development and eruption of permanent teeth. This is important for understanding the growth pattern of your teeth and planning appropriate orthodontic interventions.

Treatment Plan

Based on the examination, Dr. Yazji will discuss recommended treatment options tailored to your specific needs. This may include traditional braces, clear aligners, or braces. She will also give you an estimated time of how long the treatment may take in order to achieve your desired results.

Scheduling Follow-up Appointments

You’ll likely schedule your next appointment for further diagnostic tests or to begin the treatment. How often you come into the office will depend on the plan prescribed by Dr. Yazji. Feel free to ask any questions you may have about the recommended treatment, potential discomfort, care instructions or any other concerns you may have at that time.
